DISC GOLF CYPRUS

We are a small group of volunteers from Cyprus, or with ties to Cyprus, in the process of bringing Disc Golf to Cyprus! Disc golf is both a fun, outdoor activity and a driver of tourism all year round.

To introduce Cyprus to the sport, we held two exhibition days in March and one in May of 2022 in Athalassa National Park, Lefkosia. The events were attended by over 65 people who enjoyed playing the sport–most of them for the first time.

In January of 2023, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism released a financial scheme for the development of sports with minimal environmental impact, like disc golf. This scheme will fund up to 75% of the cost of a disc golf course installation on public or private land.  

Our ideal first location is Athalassa National Park across the street from IKEA. The final approval is now up to the Department of Forests, which would allocate the land, and build the course in 2023 near IKEA.

We are still searching for land for additional courses, ideally in villages looking to boost tourism year-round. Disc Golfers will come to Cyprus to enjoy the beach but they really want to get up into the trees and mountains, enjoy the view, and eat some amazing meze.
